Zach's first poem

Do any of ya'll remember about onomatopoeia, rhyme, and alliteration when writing poems? My 3rd grader was learning these things. He needed to draw a picture about his topic. He absolutely loves to draw. So away he goes with his pencil, pencil crayons, and his imagination. He was done in record time.
He has beautiful handwriting and so does his teacher Mrs. Cox from the Bob Jones DVDs.

Jet Take Off
by Zachary
The engine started with a roar!
The pilot said, "Buckle up."
The jet zipped down the runway.
Swish! Swish! Off we go!
With a gust of air, it lifted off!
The wheels flipped and folded.
Up we fly, high in the sky!
Away from the earth we go!
I thought he did a wonderful job. My school recollections tell me that everything must rhyme. Do they teach things differently nowadays? This was perfectly OK for a poem.
