Coconut and echoes

We were at a church carry in on Sunday and I just loved the one dish - sweet potato casserole with a coconut topping. I tried to imitate using this recipe. The one at church was better, but this one came fairly close. I used minus 3/4 the sugar, and only 1/2 the butter, but we were out of pecans.

Allison and I were enjoying this dish.
Amber was only a little OK with it.

Then I heard this:
"I hate the coconut!"

"I hate the coconut!"
(May I insert that this one is our very picky eater?)

"I hate the coconut!"

When my oldest son said he didn't like it
bang, bang, bang, like clockwork I heard two echoes.
It was amazing how fast the next 2 in line echoed the EXACT same words!

Lately, my son and I have been having this discussion of he being the oldest and how important it is to be a good example because he's got little ones imitating everything he says and does. This being so obvious about the coconut made him realize what I've been trying to get across to him. He just gave me this understanding chuckle.

There's a little song that I had learned as a child that came from way back in my 'plugged in God given computer' that I've been teaching to the children this week and it goes like this:

Somebody follows you
Watching the things you do
Walk in the light
And be pure in His sight
Somebody follows you.

I have to look at my own life. How many people are watching me? Probably more than I'll ever know. Am I truly being the example to younger people that Christ wants me to be?

Back to Sunday referred to at the beginning of this post, I met this man who memorized MANY poems. It is amazing how many he knows! He is constantly quoting them throughout his conversations and sermons. I would like to ask him right now if he knows one related to this subject.
