This morning I was reading this article on anger. Yes, my son will lash out at times and I need to deal with self control. But I'm trying to learn where the anger is coming from. Most times it's frustration with his homework. Usually it's too hard for him, so he declares, and it basically pans out that he doesn't understand the material. Patience on my part helps a great deal. And we go through it step by step. Easy!
Math time - Zach was saying how he always forgets how much kilo is. Kilo means one thousand. The question was, "What weighs 1,000 kg - a car, feather, or brick?"
Allison was standing next to him and pulled out a paper clip and told him that one paperclip weighs 1 gram.
So he said, "Give me a thousand of them!" *smile*
He circled 'brick' for the answer and he was right!

Afternoon walk - It was so VERY windy! Walking worked both ways in firming and toning our muscles. Sometimes the wind would push us, and the next time we would have to work hard to walk towards it. Our bodies literally felt like we were walking up stairs. That's how windy it was.
The weather men predited 65 mph winds.
Many people are out of power.

Cinnamon Popcorn
7 quarts popcorn, popped
1 cup white sugar
1 cup cinnamon hearts
1/2 cup white Karo or light corn syrup
1 t. salt
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Cook sugar, hearts, corn syrup, salt, and butter until cinnamon hearts are dissolved. Boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla and baking soda.
Place on cookie sheets and bake for 1 hour @250 degrees, stirring every 10 minutes.
I received this recipe from a dear friend in WV.
The girls did a super job making this! They love trying new things in the kitchen. I am super spoiled right now!

They also insisted on mailing our Christmas cards this year. THEY wanted to DO IT ALL! So I gave them the list and the rest was theirs to do.
And what a great way to use up the zillions of address labels we receive throughout the year. Sending this amount of cards hardly put a dent in the stash. At least we used the nicest ones.
