Monday night we busied ourselves with picking pears from this old tree. There's some beautiful large pears on this tree. Boy I wish I knew what kind they are. They are a very hard pear and take awhile to ripen. They should be ripe enough to can next week.
Merv borrowed the neighbor's picker and picked pears. Half of them are still hanging.
My wonderful man has been working long hours! We are so very thankful that the Lord has provided the job of painting a complete house. It is a wonderful blessing to have a full time job ~ amazing!
The tree is on a very steep hill and makes picking a challenge. We picked 1-1/2 bushels plus about a bushel of drops which we kept separate. Sometimes the pears tend to rot before they ripen.
Monday and Tuesday Braden was feeling fine.
Wednesday he again ran a low fever and rested a good part of the day on the couch. A second lymph node or rather 3rd swelled on the other side of his neck right under his hair line on the left side. Above that another lump was seen , but with no rash. I called the nurse on Thursday just to give them heads up on his symptoms and records for the charts.
My emotions swing, to be honest! When I see lumps, I think cancer and the worst. But I can tell you that by afternoon, I had this indescribable peace. We can most certainly feel the prayers of everyone! Even now, I don't worry. I only wonder what is going on. Are lumps present with Lyme's?
Antibiotics 21 days - 3 times a day are busy killing all the good and bad bacteria. But it is extremely important not to miss a day!!!! He LOVES his medicine and begs for it. He also loves all the extra attention he is receiving. And he comes to me for lots of hugs throughout the day.
Thursday Braden played all day and was fine. A friend stopped in and surprised me by saying she is going to help me can our 5 baskets of apples. I was extremely grateful as I've been feeling rather poorly and been having some minor dizzy spells. I think I need some iron.
She came at 10:00 A.M. and by 1:00 P.M. there were 45 quarts of applesauce on the counter! What a blessing! This was the first time that I canned in the oven. We used the stove to cook the apples, then processed them in the electric strainer, filled the jars, and canned them in the oven for 20 minutes at 225 degrees. It was a new one to me, but it sure was a time saver. And all the jars sealed!
