Don't you all agree we need to get a washline? When we moved here, there was one in the main part of the small lawn. But having the line there isn't nice for little boys who need to get out and play. And we haven't put one up since to replace it.
There is nothing like the smell of bringing in fresh air dried laundry. I miss that smell. So we've been using our deck railing and wooden clothes rack for quite some time. With the amount of laundry we have, that small space quickly fills up. And the rest goes in the dryer. I do like having a front loading washer as it greatly decreases the drying time.
Today Zach got the idea of using chairs and he created this clothes line. But I'm not too thrilled of using the chairs like this on a regular basis. He was pretty proud of his idea. Yet I think his biggest accomplishment was the fact that he experienced the thrill of working and hanging out the laundry.
We are considering a small pulley washline, the kind so common in Lancaster, PA. My preference is to be able to hang up clothes from the deck instead of a regular clothes line installed where it originally was.
The idea of walking around to the other side of the house doesn't excite me at all. Especially with all the mud we have around this place. I don't think there would be a decent place to set down a clean basket of laundry. And another reason is why have a washline in the front side of the house? Either way, that would be the case. But a pulley line would be slightly concealed with the row of tree and brush growth that is along the road.
