Youth conference

Growing older? I guess that's what you would call us, although I think everyone prefers to be called young. But we're in that middle bracket and our oldest child ventured out to something new, another letting go for us.

She won a $185 ticket for a youth conference in a drawing at the GEET auction. She was surprised, thrilled, and then only a little nervous. God has been tremendously working in her life this past year through some great books and we have great confidence in her. I just l.o.v.e. to see that. So I thank the writers for the encouragement and influence you have left on our young lady. It has prepared her for this stage in life - that place when she becomes a little less dependent on Daddy and Mama.

Her life challenges me to be closer to Christ.

Some of Leslie Ludy's books like When Dreams Come True and Set Apart Femininty have been a huge encouragement to her. I pray that everyone of you, my children would stay pure before marriage.

I wish I would have had the same passion for Christ at this age that she has. If our children can surpass us in their Christian walk, then all glory to God.

I would encourage every young person reading this post to really get in the Word of God and have a passionate relationship with the King of Kings so that when disappointments or Prince Charming comes along, you will have a solid foundation instead of being swept away with years of regret.

Another book that she really loves is Before You Meet Prince Charming by Sarah Malley. It is v.e.r.y inspiring and encouraging to know that there are Godly young people in this wicked and corrupt world. There's nothing like being totally free from guilt and walking a life of freedom in Christ.

We had a wonderful time traveling to the camp - just my oldest, my youngest, and me. While on the way home, I was thinking about how God has been tugging at my heart the past week to become more like Christ. I've been convicted to have more of a servant heart, especially to my family. Of course, this never comes easy for me. I've been challenged by seeing servanthood lived out by a number of our friends. I love to see that.

I thank my youngest daughter for having the house cleaned and laundry done when I got back from a long day. What a blessing indeed to have faithful children - faithful in the little mundane things! It means a lot to your Daddy and I.

We just praise God for the jobs He has given us in these shaky and slow economic times. My husband was too busy to make the trip. We are so thankful!!!
