Burned biscuits

I just received this email.............

When I was a little girl, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work.
On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Baby, I love burned biscuits."
Later that night, I went to tell Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned.. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides - a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"

You know, life is full of imperfect things.....and imperfect people. I'm not the best either. What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to celebrate each other's differences - is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

And that's my prayer for you today. That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the feet of God. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker! We could extend this to any relationship in fact - as understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or friendship!
"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket - keep it in your own."

************

I've been thinking a lot lately. I have been putting too much stock in friendships. The lesson I have learned and am still learning is to put my total trust in God instead of my friends.

God is my Strength!

He is faithful!

I love what my sister in law said, "The Lord is my helper. He is my Husband, my Friend, my Helper, my All in All, my Everything."

I used to think that home school Moms were super Moms, that they could do a lot more stuff than my human mind could imagine or what I thought was reasonably possible. And then I read in a home school magazine that that is a wrong concept. There is no one on this earth that can do everything. The reason these Moms can do so much is because of God - God alone is their strength.
That was another reminder to me to give all my cares to the Lord and He will be my Strength and my Helper. Because I can NEVER do all this stuff on my own. I have brought much stress in my life, just because I've not been relying on the Lord.

As we are officially starting school tomorrow, I need you Jesus everyday of my life. I cannot humanly possibly accomplish everything that I need to do. I'm so weary of trying to do all these things on my own strength. So I give this day and my life to you. Take me Lord, and use me for Your glory.

May I be patient and long suffering with my dear children. Give me understanding for this new school year. You are teaching me so much. It's not easy going through the fire, but trials are needed so that we may come through like gold. Thank you for your mercy and grace on my life.

And as I have listened to 'The Way of the Master', help me apply these witnessing tools so that I may be bold to speak for You when I go out and about so that others may hear and understand the power of the Gospel.

Today Jesus, You have blessed us with 18 years of marriage.

We have learned so much. There's so many things that God is yet teaching us. We've had our share of hurts that day. Wounds so deep from our pastor. It had caused us to distrust every pastor. But thank you Jesus, that you have healed our pain. You have broken the chains of bondage, of those painful words spoken to us that morning of the best day of our lives.

You have blessed our lives and allowed us to forgive - oh blessed freedom, liberty in Christ. To be able to forgive those who have spoken against us. Now that brings us peace beyond compare.
Many times hurt people hurt people. And believe me, that was us.

There are times I may have said things that hurt you, and I had no idea. Will you this moment forgive me, because I am truly sorry for wounding you?
Heart wounds lead us to Christ.
He is the Healer of Life.
He is the One you can completely trust.
I'm glad He found me!

Rose, tears ran down my cheeks as I read your anniversary blog. How well we know what you're talking about.Deep hurts that we, too had to lay at the foot of the cross. God have mercy on that pastor!
