Steakhouse

Friday night was steak night out our house. It had been a long time since we fixed some of this meat from our freezer - good home grown beef that had been raised by my husband's parents. The night before we marinated it using some stuff from a bottle. I know it had Worcestershire sauce in it. We fired up the grill and had some pretty tasty steak. The only bad thing about this meal is that we ate too late at night.
Zach set the table all on his own. He loves doing special things. He drew up the sign and made name tags for each place. He rearranged our regular seating. Starting with the top chair and going clockwise, we sit in this order: Merv, myself, Allison, Amber, Zach, Braden, Landon. He had a blast fixing it up nice and doing the game 'upset the fruit basket'. So we played along with him.

Braden sitting at his Daddy's spot.

Zach was delighted to seat between his Mama and Daddy. He told me so!!! I love his special talent - changing something ordinary to special. We had steak and fries with fresh baked zucchini bread. We just kept the menu simple, although a salad would have topped it off. Talk about an imbalance meal! LOL

I thought $1.99/lb. for bing cherries was a good price comparing to the regular price of $4.98/lb. A local orchard charges $2.48/lb - you pick. It's cheaper at the grocery store! Then yesterday the price dropped and they were $.99/lb. So we bought a few more bags. They weren't quite as firm as the previous purchase.
But so what? We put those hairpins to work and pitted the cherries and we froze 7 quarts. I guess this is the year for working up some fruit. Our hands were majorly stained. We both washed dishes using a little bleach and our hands returned to the normal color, all except the stain around our fingernails. But we are country folk, so that's OK.

Landon had fun pretending to weed eat. He would carry it a little ways, then set it down because it needed gas *wink*.

He was just doing what his Daddy was doing.

And the boys are all thankful that this trike's peddles function properly again.

The most essential element in any home is God.
