Zach and I have been having a great time in math.
Sometimes I want to pull my hair out if he doesn't understand a concept, but I realize too that it takes a lot of patience to be a teacher plus lots of help from my Lord. I try to put myself in his shoes to figure out why he isn't grasping it then comes the challenging part of thinking up different ways to explain the same concept.
Suddenly his eyes light up when he finally fathoms what seemed to be so hard. Then the job of teaching is so rewarding!
Oh, if only I could always stay calm, but far too many times my temper flares up and I find myself yelling at him for not apprehending what seems to be so simple to me. I mean I explained it a kazillion times, and I can't think of any other way to teach it! WHY CAN'T YOU LEARN?
Then I think of my Heavenly Father. He's been trying to teach me something and I just don't get it! I imagine Him saying, "When will she ever learn?" Yet He PATIENTLY waits. He's a gentleman and will never push Himself on us. He draws us to Himself until we completely LET GO of our will, our dignity, our stinkin' pride, and when we've had it and we're entirely done with self, then God can work! I look back and wonder why I couldn't give up that particular area in my life before. What took so long? Self - my human fleshly nature got in the way. It takes self denial every day! Praise God for His patience and sweet Holy Spirit.
The different temperatures in F and C are included in some of Zach's speed drills and he'd been having a tough time remembering them. Writing it down always helps and it did wonders!
Zach wanted long hair but it came to the point that he kept bobbing his head and flinging his hair back and forth more than doing school☺ that I had enough of it. So midday we had haircuts. I kinda went overboard. I'm barely a novice hair cutter even though I've done it for 10 years and would love to learn some tips. For this time, this short cut seemed like the easiest thing to do. We gave Merv's cut when he came home from work. Everyone was happy to have it done. The home barber shop certainly saves money.
